ABOUT THE PORT KEMBLA KITCHEN BY GC INTERIOR DESIGN

GC Interior Design, founded by interior designer and artist Gonia Chylinska, is known for creating intimate, curated spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful. With over 15 years of experience and a background in interior design, merchandising and fine art (Art by Gonia), Gonia brings a deeply personal approach to design—balancing aesthetic sensibility with the real-life rhythms of her clients.

Her latest project in Port Kembla exemplifies her design philosophy. Located in a serene coastal suburb of the Illawarra, this family kitchen is a celebration of natural materials, soft form, and meaningful composition. The space was thoughtfully designed to support both the day-to-day demands of young family life and the homeowner’s desire for calm, grounded elegance.

WHY TALOSTONE® MINQ® ZERO TAJ MAHAL MINERAL SURFACES?
Talostone® MinQ® Zero Taj Mahal Mineral Surfaces was the perfect choice for this project, offering both subtle beauty and high performance. With its soft veining and neutral warmth, the stone pairs effortlessly with the kitchen’s palette of caramel-toned joinery, classic travertine finger tiles, and polished concrete flooring. Its durability, stain resistance, and low maintenance make it ideal for family living, where functionality and longevity are essential. Gonia selected the Taj Mahal surface not just for how it looks—but for how it lives.

DESIGN DETAILS THAT ELEVATE EVERYDAY LIVING

  • Curved joinery introduces softness and flow.
  • Organic pendant lighting adds sculptural lightness.
  • Brass tapware and custom handles in travertine and brass bring tactile contrast.
  • Polished concrete with warm aggregate grounds the design in nature.

Every detail is intentional—every material chosen to enrich both the visual and lived experience of the space.

The Port Kembla Kitchen by GC Interior Design is a refined coastal haven where high design meets everyday practicality. Talostone® MinQ® Zero Taj Mahal plays a central role in the space’s effortless beauty, ensuring it remains both functional and inspiring for years to come.

Talostone is proud to continue its collaboration with GC Interiors—a designer whose work reminds us that great design isn’t just seen, it’s felt.

IN GONIA’S OWN WORDS “ Set against the edge of an industrial coastline, this home explores the quiet tension between contrast and cohesion — raw and refined, weight and light.

Located in a suburb shaped by steel and salt air, the design offers a gentle pause. It reflects a measured response to its context, drawing from the character of the site while carving out a new, more contemplative rhythm.

The project is a meditation on restraint — a space where every surface, tone, and texture has been selected with care. Concrete remains exposed, stone carries its natural patina, and light is allowed to move freely through the interiors. A muted yet warm palette underpins the home’s calm presence, allowing material integrity to take precedence.

The result is a place of quiet resolve — one that feels at once grounded in its setting and subtly elevated above it. Rather than compete with its surroundings, the home embeds itself within them, offering a refined and enduring response to place.”
